When Should I Start Premier?

There is no question that premier soccer is the best environment for talented players.  The only question is, when is the right time to start playing premier?  The answer is simple, the younger the better!  The longer players wait to play premier the further they fall behind.

At Everest, we begin premier training at U8 (or under 8 years old).  This is the critical “foundation stage”.  At this stage, our players are taught the proper skills and basic tactical concepts that will shape their future success in the game.  All of this is done within a fun, yet challenging environment.  The players will learn to love the game as much as they’ll learn to play the game.

By U11, the combination of excellent coaching, a strong training environment, top competition and playing with other committed players has developed true premier level soccer players.  By this age, our players will far exceed those in travel or recreation programs.

Although premier soccer is not for everyone, it is for every player that has a dream to be good...or great!  The problem is, they will never achieve that goal without the proper environment.  We strongly recommend having  your child evaluated by the Everest coaching staff.  It's free!  If your son/daughter is not ready for premier, we will recommend a quality travel program.  If we feel they are ready, the choice is then yours...

The Key To Player Development

Even among soccer experts, there are many different philosophies regarding player development.  However, there are number of things the experts will agree on.

The first key to player development is good coaching at a young age.  The absence of good coaching results in bad habits and under developed skills and ideas.  Therefore, professional coaching is often recommended by age 8.

The second ingredient is training.  Players should be training  4 - 6 hours for every 1 hour game they play.  Training is where soccer players are shaped.

Another element is competition.  Players must compete against teams that offer a challenge.  Because the only true test of a players ability is how they compete in games.  It’s important to note that winning is secondary.  The focus should be on competing and learning.

The final key ingredient is playing with other talented players.  If an individual player is far superior to his/her teammates, that player will experience frustration.  Therefore, that player needs to be offered a higher level of play as a challenge.

What is Everest Soccer Club's basic philosophy?

Our basic philosophy is to teach and develop players in an enjoyable and challenging environment.

Is Everest Soccer Club right for my son/daughter?

Everest Soccer Club is for the dedicated player who desires to learn and improve.  Everest Soccer Club holds both formal and informal tryouts/evaluations periodically throughout the year.  All players are evaluated in four basic areas (skill, tactical awareness, athleticism, and personality).  If your son or daughter demonstrates they can perform well with our teams, then they will be selected.

How did Everest Soccer Club get started?

Everest Soccer Club was originally formed by Willie Carasco, owner of NC Soccer Club and professional player with the Cleveland Cobras. The club’s mission was to bring top level coaching to young players with the goal of developing them for the highest levels of the game.

What are Everest Soccer Club's Colors?

As you can imagine, Green, White and Black.

What leagues do Everest Soccer Club compete in?

Along with many other premier teams, Everest Soccer Club competes primarily in the Cleveland Alliance Soccer Association League (aka CASA).  Indoor: In addition to the CASA League, we play at N.C. Soccer in Hudson / Lodi.

Where do you practice?

Outdoor: N.C. Soccer in Hudson.  Indoor:  N.C. Soccer in Hudson; Kent State University Field House; University of Akron Field House.

What is the difference between Recreational Soccer, Travel Soccer, Premier Soccer and the Olympic Development Program (ODP)?

There are four basic levels of youth soccer.

The first level is Recreational.  Recreational soccer programs usually play "in house games".  Players are usually coached by a volunteer parent with little or no soccer background.  The cost and commitment level is minimal.

The second level is Travel.  Travel soccer programs usually have tryouts.  The teams play in organized leagues (such as AASL or NOGSL) that "travel" to other communities and play games.   Players are usually coached by a volunteer parent with a minimum level of soccer experience (perhaps an 'E' coaching license).  The cost is slightly higher and the commitment level is increased.

The next level is Premier (or Club).  Premier soccer programs hold tryouts.  They select serious players with strong potential.  The teams play in premier leagues (such as the AFL).  Players are coached by professionals.  Professional coaches hold high level licenses (perhaps a USSF 'A', 'B' or 'C' License), have extensive playing backgrounds and a great deal of coaching experience.  The cost is significantly higher and the commitment level is slightly increased.

The highest level in youth soccer is the Olympic Development Program (or ODP).  ODP is a huge selection process by which players are constantly being evaluated.  Only the best players in the State are selected to represent our Ohio North State Teams.  Those players then go on to attempt to make Regional and National Teams.  ODP coaches are of the very highest standard.  Most of them hold USSF 'A' or 'B' Licenses,  have extensive playing backgrounds and a great deal of coaching experience.  ODP is always in addition, not substitution, to premier soccer.  This added opportunity comes at an additional cost and commitment.

Why was my son/daughter placed on a 'B' team?  What does that mean?

It is Everest Soccer Club's goal to have two teams at every age group.  This ensures age group stability and competition within the ranks.  Placement is determined by your son's/daughter's tryout evaluation and prior years performance with the club.  The evaluation takes into account the players proficiency in the four basic areas of soccer (skill, tactical awareness, athleticism, and personality).  Our professional coaches determine which level is most suitable for your son/daughter at this time! Certainly, some players are capable of moving up or down based on their subsequent performance. Meaning, your son/daughter is not "stuck" at the 'B' level or guaranteed an 'A' team spot.  All players earn their placement!  Finally, please remember that soccer is a sport played for fun, not social status.  Your son/daughter will be given the same opportunities (good coaching, strong competition, and talented teammates) regardless of their level of play!

If I join Everest Soccer Club, what am I committing to?

Outdoor:  In general, there are 2  trainings per week (approximately 1.5 hours long) .  1-2 games per week (usually on the weekend, but not limited to the weekend).  A pre-disclosed number of tournaments  ranging between 1-2 (the coach/team manager should be able to give you that schedule immediately).  Additionally, Everest Soccer Club provides footskills, a finishing clinic and goalkeeper training each week.  We encourage all players to take advantage of these sessions (it is included in the fee).

Indoor: Basically, indoor is the same as what is listed above except there is only 1 training per week.

How much does Everest Soccer Club cost?

We believe Everest Soccer Club provides the best value in North East Ohio.  Not only are our fees among the lowest around!  We also offer the most soccer for your money.  In addition to training and games, we also offer two footskill sessions, a finishing clinic and a goalkeeping clinic every week!   All of this is included in your fee!  Furthermore, Everest Soccer Club's staff is composed of the very best coaches in the state. (5 coaches hold 'A' licenses, 11 coaches are on OYSAN's ODP staff, 7 coaches are OYSAN coaching school instructors, and 4 of our coaches have gone onto U.S. National Staff positions.)  Also, Everest Soccer Club competes in the top leagues around.  We are charter members of the AFL League.  We also have a home facility with 7 outdoor and 3 indoor fields at our disposal.  We rarely get "rained out" at training, we just go inside.  In short, you can't beat it!  For the current Everest Soccer Club Fee Schedule click here!
