The team advanced to nationals by winning the 14-state Midwest Regional tournament.

The national tournament format was a round robin between the top team from each of the four regions. The two teams with the best records then faced each other for the national title.

Everest met Andromeda in the title game, where it lost, 1-0.

Everest players are from the Cleveland area, as well as Toledo and Erie, Pa. Most of the players will be entering their senior year of high school next month.

The team is coached by John Fenix of Westlake. The program director is Jason Hopkins.
